I am finally sharing with you a project that I have been working on for the past 36 years: My Travel Journal.
Because I was born in Russia during the “cold war” and exposed to Russian propaganda at a very young age, I learned quickly that the west is corrupt and capitalism is the poison of humanity. Deep down I wanted to look at this poisonous snake and breathe a little of this “bad” air. I promised myself that if I ever left “Mother Russia”, I would travel the world and see what was on the outside.
I started traveling when I was 18, and I visited over 50 countries (and lived in some of them). I had the greatest time of my life, travelling around the world and I want to share my experiences — the different cultures, traditions, architecture, and food of this beautiful world. I don’t want to bog you down with too much history or facts, I will try(!) to keep it politically, religiously, and historically friendly. These are only my thoughts, observations, and opinions of the places I have had the privilege of landing in. You may disagree with my views of the world, but my greatest travel advice is and has always been: keep an open mind.
I am fascinated with the arts and architecture. After all, my dad was an avid art collector and antiques dealer. From a very young age I would accompany him to museums, art exhibitions, sightseeing and he taught me much about history, art, and architecture. With his help I was developing my own view on art, history, politics and other different subjects. Even though, my father has since passed, his influence still reigns in the work that we do. Last year, the Kristina Valdmaa Designs Team designed the Fabrege Egg for Flowerful Events based on my father’s expertise.
I begin this travel journey at home, in Russia, with my father.
