When deciding on your wedding bouquet, understandably you tend to be a little more focused on the flowers themselves. But, don’t forget that you also need to decide how to wrap those stems together! Now a few years ago the trend tended towards fully wrapped stems, but these days the more au naturel look has taken hold, with the stems of the flowers showing beneath the wrapping. There’s no right or wrong, but there are some super sweet and whimsical ways to be creative with how you wrap ’em!
One of the biggest trends next year for wedding gowns is lace, and really, you can’t find a much more traditional wedding fabric that doubles as totally fashion forward! So, why not wrap up your bouquet stems in lace – it can even be a piece of lace from your mother’s veil or wedding gown to add that personalized touch. Another way to make your bouquet wrap a little more meaningful is to wrap a piece of jewelry around it in addition to your ribbon, such as a family heirloom, or you can add mini picture frames filled with photos of loved ones no longer with us, as a way to keep them close at heart during your wedding. A handkerchief that is meaningful to you or that is embroidered with your initials or wedding date is another sweet way to bring a personal touch into the bouquet.
Another fabric we’ve been seeing more and more of is burlap, adding a rustic chic look to weddings with its eco-friendly goodness, and as such, we’ve also been seeing it as the fabric used to wrap up those bouquets. Twine has also become popular with the rustic wedding crowd, but not everyone is on board with such earthy looks – for the modern bride looking for chic elegance, we just love the look of the oversized bow wrapping up those stems. Sophisticated and gorgeous!
