A trend that is still going strong is the “white on white wedding”. This theme often is characterized by large lush centerpieces made up of mounds of fluffy white hydrangea accented with various shades of white roses, stock and spray roses. The overall shape of the centerpieces is round, the flowers are round, the candles are round, even the tables are round.
To come up with our variation on a classic theme let’s think “inside the box”, square or rectangle as it may be.
Here, the form that is most prevalent is the square, rectangle or box shape. We begin with the lucite structure that Flowerful Events built for us. Our centerpiece support is itself is a rectangle. All of the elements are, or arranged in such a shape. The top and bottom plate, the uprights, even the strands of crystal beads with pendants are hanging to form an elegant rectangular form. Now that we have defined the profile of our centerpiece let’s emphasize the theme with beaded votive and candles that are themselves cubes. Taking it one step further we place the cube candles forming squares that are slightly askew around the base of our centerpiece.
Now that we have a distinctive centerpiece structure how can we make our “white on white” floral design stand out? For our “simple twist” let’s in-fact keep it simple and use a single variety. Not just any variety however. Our centerpiece will consist completely of orchids. While our major design at the top of the centerpiece is not square is deviates from the normal round mound by have a definite downward, cascading effect and is comprised totally of phalonopsis orchids. We’ve added a free form composition of phalonopsis at the base adding unity to our centerpiece. The cou- de-grace is the opulent garlands of dendrobium orchids draped over the top platform thereby reinforcing the rectangular form of our centerpiece.
Below we have established a frame for the ceremony with a lucite arch, again created by our production team , lavishly dripping with orchids that would aptly set the stage for our angular white on white theme.
So if you are yearning for a theme that is unique yet delicately refined maybe a simple twist is all that’s needed.
